Pearl K. Levin March 1st, 2011 Pearl K. Levin, nee Krasnow, of Racine died on Feb. 15.
She was 92. She was born in New York City and married Harold Levin in
1940 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. In 1960, he founded the Bank of Elmwood in Racine;
and after his death in 1974, Pearl served as a vice president of the bank until
2009, when the bank closed. She was a member of Beth Israel Sinai Congregation and a
president of its Sisterhood, a member and president of the Racine chapter of
Hadassah, a member and president of St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, a member
of the Racine Community Foundation board, and a member of the Racine Country
Club. She was also a longtime chair of local fund raising for Hadassah
Medical Organizations. According to her family, she enjoyed reading, traveling,
and needlepoint. She is survived by daughters Barbara (David) Behnke of
Little Rock, Ark., and Ilene Levin (Steve Goldfine) of Duluth, Minn.; son
Jess (Ellen) Levin of Fox Point; four grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren. Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home handled
arrangements. Rabbi Martyn Adelberg officiated at the funeral on Feb. 17.
Burial was in Racine Jewish Memorial Cemetery. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to Beth Israel Sinai Congregation, Hadassah, the Racine Community Foundation, or other charities. |
